As a member of the King County Nurses Association Neighborhood Health Special Interest Group on Homelessness I chose to take the Hunger Challenge to bring awareness to the challenges many people face everyday. It is hard to imagine how difficult it would be to have to choose between paying rent or paying an electricity bill, feeding yourself or your child. The fact is that many of us, no matter how financially stable, are only a job loss or serious illness away from being in this position.
One in six Americans struggles with hunger. Follow my journey as I try to feed myself, make healthy choices and compromises on only $7 a day.
